About Dominic

Dominic Lloyd is originally from the Yukon Territory, where he grew up working and volunteering in the arts. During his years in the north he held positions with the Yukon International Storytelling Festival, the Dawson City International Short Film Festival, and the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture.  In 1998 he was named Producer & Artistic Director of the Dawson City Music Festival, a role he held for nearly 6 years.

In 2004 he relocated to Winnipeg to take the helm of one of the country’s premier music venues, the West End Cultural Centre.  He was Artistic Director until 2009, when he joined the Winnipeg Arts Council as Project Manager for Winnipeg Cultural Capital of Canada 2010. Upon completion of that project in 2011 he moved into the role of Program & Arts Development Manager, a dual role that saw him design and manage grant funding programs as well as create and manage special events and programs to engage citizens in the arts. In March 2024 he was appointed Executive Director of the Winnipeg Arts Council and continues in the role to this day.

Throughout his career he has served on numerous arts and community boards, been a juror and advisor for agencies across the country, and presented at conferences in Canada and Australia.  He has a Bachelor of Arts in Canadian History and Political Science from Simon Fraser University. In his spare time Dom is either doing the New York Times crossword or enjoying four seasons in the prairie wilderness with his family, and often doing both at the same time.
